In February of 2013 a group of friends decided to formalize what had become a regular meet up to play and talk about pinball. The league was orignally known simply as the Richmond Pinball League, and would later go on to take the name The River City Flippers. 

Since that first night, and over 23 seasons, the league has grown to 24 players playing 2 seasons per calendar year.
